Over at the Official Google Blog, Google’s Steven Baker just announced a major change in the way that Google handles search results by including synonyms for some words that may be used in queries, in the post Helping computers understand language.

Yahoo and Microsoft Deal Now Official
The deal between the two search giants is now official. Microsoft will now power Yahoo! search while Yahoo! will become the exclusive worldwide relationship sales force for both companies’ premium search advertisers.
What’s in it for us though? As SEO practitioners, maybe minus 1 search engine to consider. Optimization would now be for 2 big search engines, Google and MicroHoo (whatever they may call it).
For PPC managers though, it poses some questions. Would be AdCenter or Marketing Solutions? What will happen to the PPC campaigns on both Yahoo and Microsoft? Will there be an increase or decrease in CPC, impressions, CTR? What will be the rules? Will there be new ones?
Everything seems to be a wait and see.
Search Engine Optimization in 2009
2008 is soon to pass. What does the coming year hold for all Search Engine Optimization practitioners? What algorithm updates will the search engines implement? Will Google continue to dominate the Search Market? Will there be a massive effect from the Google SearchWiki? Personalized Search in 2009? Will Yahoo increase its search market share? Microsoft and Yahoo merger?
