Google’s Algorithm change that occurred on “May Day” had webmasters all over the internet in turmoil due to massive drops in rankings and complete chaos in the search engine. There was a couple of things that changed on this day, but one of the most crucial changes was the amount of weight that Google put on exact match domain names in regards to their ranking system. Many webmasters that had a lot of exact match domain names completely lost rankings to many of their sites that day, and one thing was for sure: The days where you could just throw up websites with exact match domain names and virtually no back-links and expect them to rank were over.
